It might be interesting to compare this with the numbers from worldometers.com.
Now we have the Delta variant and the Lambda variant showing up, and I’m hoping people will publish the equivalent statistics for both of these variants, assuming we can distinguish.
Another statistic of note is the survival rate among those who are infected by age group. “Jay Bhattacharya summarizes on Twitter a revealing finding, of the infection survival rate from Covid-19, in a recent paper by Cathrine Axfors and John Ioannidis:”
- Age range: Infection survival rate
- 10-19: 99.997%
- 20-29: 99.986
- 30-39: 99.969
- 40-49 99.918
- 50-59 99.730
- 60-69 99.410
- 70+ 94.500
If you multiply by the fraction of the population in each age range, you get an overall survival rate of 99.26%. If you were to eliminate the 70 and over group from the calculation, the overall survival rate is 99.8%. As Bookworm has noted, this is actually a great virus for communist and socialist societies, since it hits hardest those who have aged out of the productive workforce and become drains on the People.
Again, I hope they provide statistics on the various variants pretty soon.
